Where to stay on the eastern coast of Ogliastra
This is not a list of properties. It is the answer to a geographic question: from which point can you explore the east coast well without moving every two nights?

Discover I MandorliOn this coast, 'where should I stay' is not a question of category or price. It is a question of position. The stretch between the Gulf of Orosei and Tertenia is organised along two axes — coastal and inland — that meet in a very narrow band of hinterland. Sleep there and you can reach both; sleep at the far end of either axis and you will spend a great deal of time driving.
That is why we do not compile lists. A list of properties does not solve the problem of someone deciding how to structure five days in Ogliastra. A clear answer does.
Distances and driving times suggested by navigation services on these roads are often optimistic. That is one more reason to limit transfers.

It sits where the roads divide
From Triei you drop to the coastal plain of Lotzorai and Santa Maria Navarrese, climb towards the Golgo plateau and Baunei, and continue inland to Ulassai and Jerzu. None of these directions requires retracing another.

It is close to the departures that matter
Boat trips to Cala Mariolu and Cala Luna leave Santa Maria Navarrese early in the morning. The trail to Cala Goloritzé starts on the Golgo plateau above Baunei. Pedra Longa is reached by car. All of these are a short drive from Triei.

It is outside the summer congestion
Sleeping on the shoreline in July and August means sharing roads, car parks and services with the seasonal peak. The immediate hinterland keeps the same accessibility under far less pressure.

It is consistent with the region
Ogliastra's tradition is agricultural and pastoral before it is maritime. A farm property inland is not a compromise on the sea: it is the context in which this part of Sardinia took shape.
