Gorropu is where the Supramonte tightens. The floor of the gorge is a bed of polished boulders, and in the narrowest part light reaches it for only a few hours a day.

It is not a light tourist walk: the distance depends on the approach, the ground is unstable and conditions change with the river's flow. Practical information should come from current, local sources.

For the scale: the gorge is the most direct example of how deeply limestone has been cut in this part of the island. Reported wall heights vary between sources and should be verified.

Spring and autumn. Avoid during and after heavy rain: a watercourse runs through the gorge.

With a day devoted to the Supramonte, or before or after a boat trip in the Gulf of Orosei to see the same limestone from the water.
